R1200GS Sidestand Switch

Has anyone ever had to bypass the sidestand switch on a GS? I have heard of this failing and it is a relatively easy fix IF you know how. Where is this switch and if it does fail what wires do you connect to make the bike go in gear without the engine stalling? If you have a photo of the fix it would be greatly appreciated as I am not keen on cutting random wires in the bush not knowing what they are for!

TIA

Have not done it, but here is info Sidestand — Hex code

I've not looked at the bigger bikes, but on my F650 the switch is around the sidestand pivot hinge.

I can't imagine it being very different for other bikes in their range.

To isolate the switch you need to connect two of the three wires leading to/from it.

I forget which two coloured wires they are that need to be connected to each other, but a simple trial and error sequence will quickly show you as only when they are correctly connected (as would have happened in the switch when the stand is folded away) will the engine start.
