r1100rs v r80/7
hi all
me and the girlfreind are planning a trip across north america for 12 months, we have toured france, spain and irland. we have got a r1100rs and a r80/7 both bikes have there ups and downs. we were wondering wot you guys thought? ------------------ big smiles

I would expect that the r1100s will be more expensive to run than the r80......so is this important to you?
i took a R80 down through the states in '81, worked well two up, Are you going to ship the bike back at the end of the trip? or try to sell it? I would reckon that the R80 could be sold easier, and maybe if it not worth so much it could be cheaper to dump at the end of the trip? Charles |

hi
we have desided to take the 1100, the r80 needed a lot of work just to get it MOTed never mind for a years trip.i also think the extra speed may be usefull at some piont. the other thing is that nether me or nick are light waights so a large sized bike is needed.i have started the design of the panniers and racks, am drilling the top yolks to fit solid handle bars insted of rubber mounted ones.
