R100 GS pd Synchronise the carburettors, and adjust the wire cables

Regular service demands that you Synchronise the carburettors, and adjust the wire cables. I would like to know how to do this. Particularly I would like to know the routine to go through to get the carbs to open up the same each side, by adjusting the cable adjusters and the stops. Yesterday I backed off the stops the same each side, (it was idling 1300rpm) and it is running rough with a sideways kick.
