r100 GS PD Air filter, foam?
I have heard that it is possible to punch out the paper in the air filter and convert to foam. Just to save money. Anyone done this? Is it a good idea?

Did that to mine in 86, works fine.
![]() Use a double layer foam, coarse over fine, ala dirtbike standard. I used a very coarse heavy wire mesh top and bottom, cut just a little too big, and bent the ends of the wires slightly so that they dug into the rubber housing a little. Still works fine, still using original housing and foam.
