Glad to hear you have solved it. Sounds like it had to be related to the oil in the airbox, at least partially. Thanks for posting the outcome for future reference.

Answer is no fluids
Sorry to hear of your problem with shippers dumping the crate on its side, but that kind of stuff happens and you have to just plan for it. The solution is to drain the bike clean out before you ship it. I mean oil, gas AND radiator. Then just make sure you have all the correct fluids when you get the bike out of customs.
