Plastic tank repairing/fixing?

Crashed my previous GS that had TT 41 litre plastic tank returning from Iran. But now want to have the same tank on my new GS (stock 22L tank too small for third world piste-conditions) but the tank got's some cracks in it and small hole as well.

It's made by Acerbis and they say it's done from polyamide. Is there any special glues and sealing compounds for repairing it?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Margus

Hey!

I was lucky with a repair i got from some guys that also repair boats. They knew exactly what to take for that material, but don't ask me what it was :-)!

Greetings

Thanks Marco,

looks like good place to start. I'll search for small-boat builders around the area, sounds promising because plastic boats brake too http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif

I have the same tank and had a small hole. I repaired it with super glue and a tire patch. Holding two years and 55,000 miles so far. It was a small hole though.

By boats I'm not shure if you mean kayaks, as any kayak clubs would be a good place to look. You'll hopefully find someone who welds up the kayaks, this is normaly done by cutting some plastic from around the cockpit area & melting it into the crack which has been prepared by grinding a V section on each side (probably only 1 side on a tank). Its reasnobly tricky so someone with experience is advisable.
Another possibility is someone who repairs large plastic tanks like farmers use.
