Paint Job

I have a acerbis 41(?)l tank fitted to my gs basic. It is 4 yrs old now and looks a bit grubby. Does anyone know if it is possible to have them painted (plain white) successfully and secondly can anyone reccommend a decent paint shop in the herts/bucks area. cheers.

I had my 43Ltr Acerbis/HPN tank painted by a company in Bradenham, Bucks, just West of High Wycombe. They made a first class job for £250. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the firm and don't live in the area anymore, but they'd be in the local yellow pages.

There are 2 typed of acerbis tanks, made of different types of plastic. only 1 type can be painted. I had a nice plain red job done for 75 pounds but the paintable type will still require a special undercoat for the paint to stick.

The late John Hill from Brackens told me that the easy way to tell if the tank is the paintable type is to look at the filler neck on the tank. If the neck is raised and threaded around the outside the tank is alot more difficult to paint than the other type which has a flush top.

I found the details of the company I used on the reciept for the paint job. Coles & Blackwell in Walters Ash, about 3 miles West of High Wycombe. Tel:01494 563102.
