Other than the original air filter for 1150ADV?

Dear All,

should I insist on the original, trusty BMW air filter for the 1150ADV, or should I try those special oil wet filters, apparently the sate of the art, that might give me a little less consumption and add a hp or two, but on the other hand, require me to travel around with the 'special cleaning and maintenance' kit ?
And considering the original dry filter, for how long, shall I go on using it, even if I dust it off regularly, is there a life time limit for it ? as they say in the owners manual ?

Thanks for your replys, and safe rides!

In the wind , in South America soon!
