New R1150 GS Adventure

check (in German only) http://www.zylinderkopf.de/sonstiges/bmw0907.html

it shows a new 1150 GS, with optional 30l tank, better suspension, and some other improvements. BMW even constructed Aluminium panniers for it. No information on price and weight yet.
The bike will be presented at the Frankfurt motorshow IAA and the Milan bikeshow.

Just read about the new 'Panzer' in a bike article here in Oz (Australia). Unfortunately it won't be due here in Oz till the middle of next year (2002), at least it gives me time to save up some pennies as by the article it sure looks like a winner.
Although, I must admit Australian's for some reason don't take to this type of bike as readily as Europeans.

My dealer saw the bike at a show the other day - he says the panniers are PLASTIC painted to look like aluminium!

My dealer just saw the bike at a show, and says the panniers are plastic, painted to look like aluminium!

Availability on this bike will be even poorer than the current version. My dealer is the biggest in the UK and can only get 6 next year. Get your order in now if you want one, for delivery in March at the earliest.

if you want a laugh: look in the r1150gs adv. brochure on pg 30 and on both sides of the pullout poster... some ugly bald bloke is grinning at you. any guesses who this might be?
