Need advice on fixing my F650´s chain?
 

Hey guys, the connecting link on my chain snapped on me here in Argentina. I am in a remote town called Perito Moreno and can not buy another connecting link. I have some extra spare links that came with the chain and the mechanic here says that can fix my chain by removing the connecting link and one other link that was damaged and replacing them with the new links. Is this an acceptable way to fix the chain.

BTW: The chain and connecting link were relatively new with only 3,000 miles on them.

Acceptable repair.. yes - to get you to a place that has a complete replacement chain. Or to continue your trip .. but orgainse a replacement chain to be posted to you a little way down the track.

I've seen a connecting link brazed together .. it held for 3 days of gental riding .

Once one link fails .. how far are the rest behind it? Was the chain recomened for the F650? Or was it a cheap chain ...
