leaded fuel F650 (again...)
There is one major question that keeps bothering us.
On our trip we know we wont find unleaded fuel in Turkey, Syria and Jordan. The bike is a F650GS, year 2000. Will it run on leaded fuel? We can't try it out in Belgium. Pieter. |

My understanding is it will run fine but kill your catalytic converter if you have one. Th lead raises the octane rating and lubricates the valve seats... oh and doesnt do much for kiddies brains.

If the bike has no O2 senssor (lamba sensor is another name for it) then you'll be fine on leaded. I've run avgas (about 10 times the lead of leaded petrol) on the K75 for quite some distance so the fuel injection does not mind it at all. It only took 20 kms of running to get that white/grey exhaust colour back too.
