I want a 1150gs , but
i currently have a 650gs. i would love to have a 1150gs but the seating position streatch's my arms to much, because of a problem with my right arm i am unable to fully extend it, in order to make the 1150gs acceptibly comfortable, i would probably need the bars about 2inch back, and 2inch up, also what would greatly help is narrower bars.

can anyone help with modifications , machine shop, etc

i know this is a tall order but the only way i could ride this bike hour afteer hour would be to address this problem. help please i 've wanted this great bike for years and all i've heard was you cant do that the cables will be to short etc.

Where do u live, talk to one on the custom shops, the cables can be extended, What ever i need to alter anything on the bike in the UK I go to one of the shops that build customs, they are normaly good engineers with facilties for doing the work. hope that suggestion helps, oldbiker

I would try a two stage approach.

Step 1 - get some handlebar risers from Touratech. This will let you angle the bars down and towards you without the switches getting too close to the tank. I have done this and it makes a big difference.

Step 2 - if step 1 is not enough, get the bars cut and welded. I got a custom exhaust maker to do this and he reduced the width by 4 inches. It's quite complicated because of the shape of the bars - the guy had to remove 4 sections.

Go for it - you will love the bike.

By the way, do you have a gs or are you getting a sg? I have one and i love it to death. one big problem, though, is that it is so so so heavy. is that a problem for your arm? hope not.

It strikes me that if you are both going to pull the bars back and 'narrow' them, then cable lenght shouldn't be a problem. Of course it depends on the relationship between the two changes! Good luck.
