Horn stopped working any tips?

My horn on my F650 Dakar just decided to stop working a few days ago. I check the switch, the horn, the fuses, and the connection to the battery and everything looks normal to me. Though I dont really know what to be looking for. The horn seems to be such a simple part I cant imagine it being very complicated to fix, any tips on what else to look at? Hitting the road from El Salvador to Honduras in a few days and would love to have my horn as its quite important sometimes down here. Thanks

Remove the connection from the horn and check with a multi meter or test light that you have 12V when you press the horn switch (remember to have the ignition on). If you do then it is the horn, if not then it is towards the switch (or further towards the power supply). If you do have voltage at the horn, try tapping/bashing it while pressing the switch. Its realy just a very crude solenoid that vibrates 2 metal plates together to make the noise. Sometimes they stick.

Had the same problem on Caf's 650GS (in India, not the place to be without a horn) it was the contact inside the switch gear not making, over use?
I brought a soldering iron and built up the contact with blobs of solder, been working fine ever since.

Cheers

Struck it with a hammer.
If it don't start working, buy new, it's cheap.

With my f650 dakar I finally found out that the problem was that the wire that connects to the horn was broken internally. I assume that the movement of the steering caused the wire to eventually break. So if you have tried everything else, check the wires themselves.
