GSA OUT OF BRAKES

This weekend I went out of front brakes on my GSA 1150 2002.
The lever went all the way down like if there was a fluid leak (but there was no).
Pumping resulted of help but it was not reliable.
It felt like if I let it cool down it worked better.
Now on stand it seems like fixed.
Any tips?
Thanks

Not sure about anything GS particular, but this can happen if the fluid gets hot. We you using the brakes a lot? Are the pads rubbing and causing heat in the caliper (which heats the fluid)? Can be a sign that your fluid needs replacing, when was the last time it was done?

If no leak and pedal went down anyway - water or air in the breaklines - you must replace the fluid that is very probably old now.

Is it ABS equipped?

If you start the bike with the brake lever being used the ABS system will not self diagnose corectly resulting in possible brake malfunction.

BMW Aust is oferring to teach the moto jornalists how to start their bikes engineer in tow! giggle giggle

Another BMW technical advance!!!

In this case the ABS lights on cockpit should flash if the ABS didn't start correctly. Do the ABS lights flash?

And as far as i know on my bike - when the ABS doesn't initialize, then breakes will work like on normal non-ABS bike - they just block if to push harder. The same thing is if you disable ABS for offroad.

ABS were set properly.
I would think that fluid boiled or degraded.
I am not a heavy braker, I use mostly engine downbraking.
But fluid is been there for 15,000 kms. I will try changing it.
Some say thin pads will help also cause the problem. My pads have 1/3 LIFE left.
