GSA or HP2e

I'm putting together a plan to ride the two American continents, South to North starting in November 2012. Thing is I have a 1200GS Adv and a HP2 Enduro, but which one to take? The GSA is already sorted with Panniers etc; but I'd have to consider a larger fuel tank for the HP2 as well as hard luggage. The soft ones I've already got for it won't be so secure.

What do the collective think?

Heart says HP2 but the GSA would probably be more practical.

i've an 1150gsa, it's a lump but great fun and you can strap lots of holiday gear to it.

I think it depends totally on how you want to ride the trip!

The two bikes are two different animals - on the HP2 I'd be wearing motocrossy/travel gear and soft luggage and travelling very light and fast on all the backroads, whereas on the GSA I'd be into touring gear and a little luxury, big tent and travelling much slower.

up to you - how do you envision your trip?

btw on the HP2 - forget the big fuel tank unless you can find the perfect one really cheap - strap spare plastic fuel cans on (securely!) and use when needed only. You'll only really need it in parts of Bolivia, plus the occasional long stretch - but it's easier to carry spare fuel when needed than spending a grand or more on a larger tank and cursing the weight bulk and cost.

kiss...
