Fitting New Clutch Plates

I´m having trouble fitting new clutch plates to my F65GS twin 2009. I don´t have available the BMW service tool or a TDC locating tool but as far as I can figure out I shouldn´t need them for just replacing the plates?

Anyway, the problem comes when I align the pullrod and then actuating shaft and put the cover back on. It seems to go on OK, but the clutch action is very loose, so something is not right.

Any suggestions or hints??

Search the forums on Advrider.com - there is a very detailed pictorial and write up of clutch replacement on an F800GS by, I think, lostrider/chitown. I think there a couple of pitfalls you need to watch out for.

I guess I've been put off F650.com in the past because it never seems to have much on the twins, only the singles. Having said that I just rummaged abit and am realising that the clutches are pretty similar, at least in terms of my questions.

I found this:

Clutch Rack Wobble

which has put my mind at rest a bit - I was worried that the pullrod or its bearing was broken or something.

I probably just need to pull the actuator rod/pullrod back together a bit more carefully. I now have the new plates and springs so I'll be able to try it tomorrow when I get back to the bike.

I'll check out the AdvRider stuff too

Thanks!
