f650 oil change

So here's what seems an unusual situation.

Doing my first DIY oil change, drained the sump and tank, but when trying to open the filter housing, my torx key broke, the bolts were so tight.

So I've put new oil in now, but no new filter.

My question is, once I get a new tool to open the housing, will all my new oil drain out, or only just the little bit thats in there at the time?

Can I change the filter, without a second oil change - bearing in mind that I need to do it fairly soon?

thanks

Richard

unfortunately all the oil will come out if you open the cap of oil filter. try to drain the oil in a tub, so that you may use it again.
good luck

If you lay the bike on the ground (with the cap facing upwards) you can remove the cap without spilling much oil.

thanks guys, but in fact there was no problem.

Opened the housing with the bike just on its side stand - and only lost the bit that was in the filter housing at the time.

so now we all know
