F650 Dakar Centrestand
Hi,
I'm about to prepare a Dakar for a long Africa trip... they come standard with only a side stand (I guess cos the standard BMW stand is not long enough for the extended suspension?)... is it recommended to fit a centre stand (ie: for changing tires etc)? Has anyone done this - Is there a BMW part or after market part or does it need to be custom made? I've heard of people using their panniers for changing tires etc - is this practicable? Any advice? Thanks, Greg ------------------ mmm? [This message has been edited by gespey (edited 26 August 2005).]

I fitted the touratech centrestand to my dakar. It certainly made mending the punctures easier as well as adjusting the chain. Order via the touratech website.

Same her.... very happy with it. And whe the sidestand goes south.... wich it will because the welding is pretty poor, you will be very happy for your new centrestand. I had a few punctures in Sahara, and even in soft sand, it gave me enough room to get the wheel off and fix it.
