Europeanising a BMW R100

I need to "lefthandrivise" (C) a BMW R100 from the UK, for permanent import into Spain. In order to pass Spain's ITV check, the only things I can think of that would need to be changed are:

- kmph speedo decal
- Euro headlight lens (dipping to right)

Am I missing anything?

Does anyone have a Euro BMW R100 that they're importing into the UK / Ireland? Want to swap parts?

What year is your R100?

I changed my 78 UK R80 to Spanish spec about 3 years ago, because I have a lot of old VW bits lying around I found a VW beetle glass fits!
Probably the cheapest way to do your headlight.

No way! I'd never have thought to try..

Did you have to get the Technical specs from BMW, and then translated into Spanish, or did you get a Spanish engineer to do it?

Phoenix, you have a P.M.

Oh & I should have said, that Beetle headlight glass is a right fiddly fecker to fit with those bloody wire clips & dodgy sealing rubber, anyone who's done it knows what I'm talking about.

You can get a 2:nd hand lens from any scrap-yard /retailer; or you could do as I did:
- Volvo 140-240 180mm round H4.
- BMW chrome rim is 178mm => kinder-garten playground activity - use a ball-pointed hammer and gently tap the rim out. The original springs will hold the Volvo H4 (Hella is ok as well but much more expensive). If you need extra springs - Hella Rally 1000 spare-parts.

I prefer the Volvo H4 since it gives a sharper dip-beam cut off and a winder spread of the light. The reflector is deeper => you need to put a piece of rubber to behind the reflector to seal the heat from damaging the wires, and you may need to buy a new socket (slim-line versions available at car part stores).

Guess that and a Km-speedo is all you need to alter -

Ay. I love the HUBB

I got the lens out yesterday to have a better look at it, and it does look like it should be a reasonably common fitment.

I opened up the speedo too, out of curiosity (haven't done one before), and it looks like the decal itself should be replaceable with one that has both miles and kilometers, as opposed to just miles. That would save having to replace the entire speedo mechanism.
