Dropped BMW, is battery fried?

I have dropped my r850r, 2000 model on the doorstep after a 1100km trip with no problems?????|||||******
The battery did not have the strap on and the pos terminal has touched the tank underneath, there is a black mark there, the battery now has absolutely zero power, gone to borrow a battery charger, ( my two ex-wives have the last two), has anyone else had this......damn, always something...!

Have you checked the battery ??

Maybe you just blew the main fuse if you shorted the terminals if the bike has no power..

A battery doesn't discharge if you short it or knock it (unless you actually broke a terminal etc.

Hello Ted,
I have removed the battery from the bike, the fuses are all ok, the battery will not even light up a 12v tester, it is completely discharged....no charger till tomorrow sometime, just wondered if anyone else has had this and gotten away with recharging, it is a gel battery, by the way....

Hmm. Looks like you have done mechanical damage it to it. Maybe broken an internal contact. Do check it with a volt metre before binning it though.

As they are non maintenance, the only thing to do is replace it !!!

If it shows 0V then a contact is fried..

I just can't see a battery going completely flat by sparking it on the frame. They just don't work like that.

The battery is fried.....make sure yours has the strap on, better still if the terminals are covered with plastic or rubber protectors.....
