Disable ABS R1150GS

Hi folks,

First of all I want to say hello to all of you as this is my first post ever. I use to read you and I´ve learned a lot in this forum. I will also try to help anybody from now on (within my possibilities).

My question is about my 1150GS. Last weekend I was riding the bike in a track and I tried to disable the ABS but I couldn´t. What I do is to turn on the key, then press the ABS button (the lights stop flashing and the down light keeps on), and then press the ignition so the bike starts running with the down light always on. Till now for me everything is as I could imagine, but as soon as I start moving, the down light turns off and ABS is working as always...Am I doing anything wrong or may I have a problem with the bike?

Thanks in advance. Greetings.

By the way, It´s a 2002 GS, no servo, no integral abs...

ABS disabling.

I used to have a 2002 GS, also with the ABS 2 systm (pre-servo). If I recall, you press the button down before switching on the ignition key, rather than afterwards, which otherwise performs some sort of system check or what not.

Press the ABS button on the controls, with the key switched off. Turn the key to on, and the ABS lights will flash. Pull away and they should keep flashing with out the whirr-clunk noise of the ABS engaging at about 10 mph. MAy also do a beep of some sort, IIRR.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply, if I do understand I have to turn on the key while pressing the ABS button, and then ABS will be disabled. I am going to try it. I´ll tell you if it works. Thanks a million.

Yep.
That sounds pretty much like how I did it. Mind you that was over a year ago that the GS last saw dirt...

Hope it works.

It works!!! You were 100% right. I´m happy that my Abs modulator is not broken and I don´t have to spend 2000€ to solve it...Thanks a lot for your help. Best regards, Carlos.
