decaying fuel tank inserts
I've just had to replace both fueltank inserts (fuel pump and fuel pump return) because the little 'volcano' protruberances, sticky up bits the the fuel lines go into with a quick release clip, because the plastic lower halfs were breaking up and leaking fuel. I'm travelling through the US at the moment and the bike has spent a fair amount of time here during it's 5 and a bit years. US fuel has 10% ethenol in it and it has been put to me that European plastic is not able to withstand this 'green additive'. Seems a bit far fetched so anyone got any other info that I can blame BMW with. My 1200gs has had a hard life, 115,000mls so far with a lot of it on rough roads and I am not the worlds greatest rider.
