boxer rings and rebuild
 

I am once again getting conflicting advise about post '81 boxer engine ring breaking procedures. Some say that when adding new rings you must hone the cylinders, others say that on nikaseal (sp?) liners, you do not rehone when putting in new rings. Last time I did this I rehoned, and that worked fine but local experts now have me questioning the process again!! Anyone with some info on this?

According to the Clymers book nikaseal (?)
cylinders should NOT be honed just replace the rings and break in at under 4,000 rpm for 500 miles. Thats what I did to my R100R and it runs great.
