Hi guys which BMW would you recommand for trip two up, I will not do much off road , maybe gravel at best ,I don't like to do off road with my wife in the back and a 600 Pounds bike.I want to buy one and let it as stock as possible any recmmandation?.

How much do you both weigh? I've done a successful trip on a 650 with my daughter on the back but she is fairly small and light.

Given the choice though, I think a bigger GS is advisable [e.g. 1150 or 1200] especially if you're mainly on sealed roads.

I weight 200 Pounds and she must be about 150 , whenI ride on road I average about 350 to 450 miles per day,a 650 is not really going to give us enough confort for long trip, I was more thinking about 1150 or 1200 (GS,RT,LT)

If you're going to do some gravel roads, then the R1200GS NOT Adventure version would be the best in my opinion - you have no need for the extras on the Adventure, and the weight saving and lower overall height and weight of the 1200GS is much better.

The 1200GS works very well on and off-road, although you don't want to get too aggressive off-road, it's sump and exhaust protection is mediocre at best, damhik!

For all round riding it also works exceptionally well - many never get off-road at all, but it's much better than an RT off-road.

Or if you want to save money, the 1100 and 1150 GS's are all good.

Whatever BMW you choose, make a test ride, together with your wife, on the bike you want to buy.
If that is not possible, try to borrow or rent a bike like it for a serious testride.
You can beter spend 100 or 150 dollar/euro on a rental bike then buying a bike that does not work for you and your wife.

Most people love the 1100 and 1150 but some (including me) can't get used to the "fahrrucklen" that those bikes do. The 1200GS'es with the double sparkplugs don't have this problem.
