I don't get it ...? Why buy a stripped down light weight high power boxer and then weigh it down with an oversized heavy fuel tank ? If you are thinking of travelling you need to beef up the rearsubframe in a big way to take any luggage on it .....but then again some people travel round the world on a yamaha R1 so I guess whatever floats your boat....

Just wondering...are you talking about Dutch Jacob in South America? He found that if you lower the tyre pressure enough to run on your rims the southern bolivian dirt tracks are still bad....

When I went from a 20 litre to 33 litre tank, 12GS to 12GSA tank, the gain was about 10-15 pounds. Nothing, in the grand scheme of things. An HP2 13 litre tank to a 20 litre tank shouldn't be more than 10 pounds. Yet the range will equal the 12GS. I'm looking forward to one.

You can't beat a bit of Touratech. You only have to think of what you want and sure enough they start to make it. Good firm but have lost a Bit of customer relations. As I have asked the UK branch to take some stuff to a UK show and ill pick it up next week, they said no as they could not store 3 small items. As I live in the UAE I thought this was a reasonable request, as touratech Germany have problems sending thing here. Oh well 10-15 years ago they might have.

Hpn

Volum 23-24 litres, available from the end of November (inshallah'). A way of beefing up the frame is on it's way.

Wink Hi Alibaba - great pics!!

Just read your thread on the oversized tank for the HP2. Do you have an HP2? Do you know what the tank will cost? I am from South Africa and have been riding an HP2 for just over a year. Amazing bike! Have designed a fairing for it which works fantastically! Better than ANY road bike (including touring bike) Now all I need is the tank.....

Ride safe and thanks for the pics - looks awesome. They (HPN) are difficult to get hold of though, and their website is impossible!!

TT has got it in the 2007 catalogue. Check Touratech AG
Not the cheapest article on the market though ;-)
1,299 Euros - which is how many millions in SA Rand?

Cool Hi Vaufi

Thanks for the info - saw it on the same posting a bit earlier but I think it is UGLY compared to the HPN and VERY overpriced!! (you are right - millions of SA rands.....) Hope the HPN price will be a bit more reasonable...??

Regards
Steve

No I don’t have a HP2, I was thinking of buying one but I decided to rebuild the old bike I have. It’s a nice bike but it needed to many mods to suite my needs:-(

It’s best to call them. I haven’t been in contact with them for a while but I have heard that the tank is delayed and that it will show up on the web when it’s ready.

If your thinking of going anywhere remote you mite want to change the rear air shock as ive been told when they blow they leave the bike stranded sitting on the back wheel . My 1100gs rear standard shock blew off road in Senegal (it took loads of abuse off road in the desert in Mauritania fully loaded & carying & 70lts of fule & water ) was a 50mile ride to the highway (fall off potholes) & was like ridding o pogo stick or bucking bronco but it still got me home 4500mile .

Have any HP2 owners any experience of the rear shock on their HP2 failing?

Thanks.

Thanks.

PG Lundmark broke a shock somewhere in Africa. You can find it somewhere in his blog: High Performance Riding

Edit, found it:
From High Performance Riding :
"Finally I have to report that the bikes have been as reliable as atomic clocks. Consumption has been as low as 4,3 litres per 10 kilometres and the highest figures were 6,7 litres per 10 kilometres. The only mechanical problem, that we didn’t cause ourselves was a broken rear shock."

That sums up North Cape- South Cape in a hurry....
