BMW F650GS service clinic?

I would like to be able to repair anything on this bike as I am planning to ride the Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina and was wondering if there was some sort of service clinic available for riders knowledge not for a career. I am located in North Florida. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, luckily for you this is probably the most documented bike around. Get yourself the maintenance DVD's from F650.com, start spannering some bit and pieces off the bike, and you're away.

How much can you do currently?

Thanks TM. I am mechanicly inclined and can tear down an HD in no time flat, its all the electrical business on the BMW that is intimidating. I am planning to ride from Florida to Alaska to Panama and possibly Ushuaia and want to know how to repair any issues I may run into along the way. I have the DVD but cant seem to print out the entire manual for travel as a DVD wont help along side of the road.

You put those DVD's on your phone or most mp3 players nowadays. PM me if you need some help with ripping a DVD. Or google DVDx which is what I use. But Doom9.org is a good site to get going as well. It has DVDx as a download. Use that, Lame and Divx codecs are other things you'll need.
I only take PDF manuals and put them on my phone. For ease/speed of browsing I converted all the pages to photo images as well.

The electrical stuff on the F isn't as bad as it first looks. You can't do anything to it anyway. So as long as you don't cut wires you're fine. The connectors (good quality Tyco. Not waterproof though) are all idiot proof and only fit one way. The only sensor I frequently unplug is the one on the snorkel.

If you can do a HD you have no problems with this. The panels are a bit of a pain, but with an electric drill/ screw driver it's easy enough. Don't tighten the indicator bolts untill they're all in halfway. You'll love not having to remove the fuel tank getting covered in fuel
I forgot how much I hate that untill I bought a trail bike.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
