BMW Approved mechanic near london

Hi,

Can anybody pass on any contact details of approved bmw mechanics near London and the South-West, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to service / work on my bike?

Also I'm looking for the right hand side tank-panel cover for a 2005 F650GSD.

Many thanks

Tyrone

Ditto - about a BMW savvy mechanic, without the company's aspirations concerning megga-wealth.

Why pay for the upkeep of a white marble, stainless steel and smoked glass palace, when all we want is a fairly usual/basic motorcycle adequately maintained?

I am more than happy to pay a fair (very fair) price for what is done but not to also support a mass of well dressed 'execuitves' whose only apparent proven ability is to avoid eye contact with a customer - or potential customer.

But but but... the first thing they teach you at BMW fix it school is charge 3 times as much as anybody else does, I think if they don't agree to that condition they don't pass you, or is it that it just seems that way?

Brian. Thanks. Noted, and I will enquire in due course.

"if you mention my name you might get along "better" "

Sounds like there could be difficulties for the 'casual' customer. Must be such an integral part of the BMW training that it cannot be totally erradicated! The arrogance lives on.... LOL

I like the idea of no premises costs but but but the whole BMW experience has been pissing me off for years. They make a good product, but they seem oblivious to the fact that so do many other manufacturers - whose products and spares are available at a fair cost at almost every town and village throughout the World, together with highly competent (and versatile!)mechanics.

Why should I be expected to travel quite large distances to buy, for example, a genuine BMW spark plug? Afterall, once the BMW box is opened the item looks amazingly like an NGK product available everywhere - probably cheaper too!

RANT NOT OVER ! Join the protest.....

I knew when i typed it i was looking at the wrong words. i personnaly know Pat and a mention of my name might assist the workings of the cogs along that bit smoother. he's def not your average BMW mechanic or at least i don't see him like that but again i've never used him as a mechanic so i don't want to comment about his work as far as i know Pat is a really nice guy give him a ring and have a chat to him.

I wasn't really having a go at Pat - I really will give him a ring next time I need work doing.

But you did give me a splendid chance for me to add to the long list of moans about the whole BMW experience.

I don't know about "approved", but in terms of knowledge I would contact Neil, based in Kingston Upon Thames, just off the A3. His website lists his knowledge base! He has worked on my old bike.

The work was good and very reasonably price compared to dealers that did a dreadful job...
