Alternative tank bag mounting R1200RT
As a new member and a BMW owner(R1200RTSE) and wanting to visit a long standing friend in Austria I made an enquiry at the local dealer for a tank bag only to learn that it cost £189. Having had a look at the fixings arrangements I decided to make my own mounting. As my existing bag had the magnetic type fixing and would not clamp to the rails or panelling. I have made bag mount using aliminium plate with support rails shaped to follow the contour of the tank/rails and using similar type of quick release fixing mechanism that BMW use . I am now able to use my existing tankbag with just a small addition of new straps although the original straps that came with the bag would have worked but I had removed them while using it with a K1100LT as I wanted a quick release method when re-fueling the tank. If anyone thinks that the above would be of interest I would welcome your comments?
