1200GS Broken Exhaust Bracket
I thought I'd check with the experts...came across a used R1200GS w/ 15K miles...pretty good shape except the last bracket that holds the exhaust the to the frame is broken (owner said rough roads in Sicily did it in)...is that weak spot, or a common problem, or should I be running away?

not heard of such a problem before but do a search on the bmw forums - ukgser and avdrider.
it's either a bad weld or the guy has dropped it on the exhaust. if there's no other sign of it being dropped (the silencer would be scratched) then I'd not worry about the rest of the bike - subject to all the usual checks of course. Don't let anyone do any electric welding on the bracket/frame without disconnecting the electronics |

Check and see if the exhaust has been removed and remounted. That should not happen. Check for other damage/repairs as well, esp on the frame in that area.
