1150GS to Brazil

I'm moving to Brazil next summer and I'm doing some preliminary research on motorcycling there. I own a 2004 R1150GS and am seriously considering taking it with me. My major concern is the fuel available in country. According to what I've read, the fuel there averages around 82 octane. My GS pings like crazy with fuel below 92 octane. I've read that there is a chip available for the Adventure models (My bike is a straightforward GS) that will allow the use of low octane fuel. How good are these? Are they recommended for use in Brazil? What else should I consider in taking this bike to Brazil?

Thanks in advance.
