1100gs backfire with Laser exhaust???

Techies,,,,, I have a problem I just can't figure out or find any info on. I think my GS was backfiring before I fitted the Laser exhaust and chip but now it's a nightmare and I have got real bad tickover.
I have done the zero to zero from BMW riders (butterfly set to .370vdc) etc.
I have also set the timing plate with the hall sensors to the max retarded position.
Basically I'm out of ideas,,,, am I missing something?? is it just bing balancing,? it generally phuts and farts all the time as i'm getting the bike ready to do the Atlas mountains in Feb I'm getting worried??
Please help,,,,,,, informed ideas only please,,,, wild guesses as a last resort.
