1100 gs OR 110pd?
LIKE MOST OF US, I AM LOOKING FOR A BIKE THAT WILL DO A COUPLE OF THINGS!
I am after a bike that would essentially be used for UK touring, trips to work, big bike trails (Cambrian etc)and green land riding in the UK, but also be suitable for jaunts into the Sahara. I have my eyes on either a 90 110 PD or a 97 1100 gs. Both offer different things but are either suitable and if so what would the BMW experts out there suggest. Any advice would be most welcome. |

I don't have much experience with R100GS PD, i'm sure it's a good bike too. But as a R1100GS user i only can highly recommend the 1100.
What is fully certan that the 1100 models final drive last considerably longer than 100/80GS models final drives. BMW boxers are simple to service on-road engines, fuel injection on 1100 may become as pro too - not much carb syncronizing and adjustments needed. 1100 engine should be more fuel effeicent too because of electronic injection. Also the pro for 1100 is ABS option compared with 1000cc older generation models that don't have it. PD may become more cheaper though. Test drive them both and compare! Much easyer to decide for You then. Margus |

Less maintance on the 1100.
The 100 is lighter and better manered at very low speeds. For sand and green lanes the 100. For comuting and workingon the 1100. Your choice.
