Renting bike in Malawi
 

Hello!

Im in Lilongwe, and would very much like to travel around in this beautiful country on a motorbike. But it seems to be hard to find one to rent. Ive contacted the big car rental companies, and they all claim that its not possible here...

Is this right?? I would be so grateful for any tips!

Have you thought about speaking to a boda boda rider with a relatively decent bike and hiring that? I use the boda bikes for around $15 for 24hrs. Find the right bloke with the right bike and your sorted.

Like the idea of renting a common bike from a local. Can you explain how this might actually happen...do you suggest we just go out and approach a Boda boda rider or do they have locations where you can see lots of bikes? Any advice appreciated as we are out in Malawi in Oct 2019 and bike hire seems very limited....
