Motorbike and sidecar hire USA

I woke this morning feeling slightly jaded after the works Christmas knees up and starting dreaming of next years motorcycle trip. I went away this year on my own so next year i'm under orders to take Wifey n Sproggy.

Ive always wanted to go to the States and was wondering where i may be able to hire a bike and sidecar and how much roughly it would cost so i could work out a budget.

I have no real preference as to a destination at the moment, the only thing i know is the trip period would be for around three weeks.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Thanks Jim

Jim,
I ran my KLR with a sidecar for a year or so. My biggest issue was the speeds. They are damn hard to run (safely) at speed. Louis Pryce and Vince Austin went cross country on a newer Ural so it is possible. You may want to consider a buy/sell option and have her ride as a pillion as well

old thread but...

i need to reacitvate this question.

I am not familiar riding a solo, because i always run a sidecar.
Next year we plan a trip through the middle west.
Broadly speaking Smokey Mountains to Yosemite.

What i found until now is a lot of posibilitites to rent a motorcycle, but no sidecar.
Do i need to train some solo reflexes or can i rent a sidecar in the USA for that roadtrip?

thanks for any information
Richard

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
