Thank you for your response.

I iive in Beckley, West Virginia USA. I am seeking a bike swap to tour Europe. If you (or someone you know) would be interested in touring the US on one of my bikes in exchange for my use of a bike in Europe, please let me know. I have done this once before in Europe and once in New Zealand.
I have an ST1300 (2003 model) and a 2008 Kawasaki Versys. Both bikes are well maintained and have all the luggage one needs for long range touring. Any swap would be well planned and agreeable with both parties and properly insured. Most any bike that's capable of touring long distance would be acceptable for me. I currently have a swap arranged for Australia this winter (Jan 2014) for a tour down under.
Thanks for any help or referrals you can provide in my search for another Euro tour. I have references concerning my previous swaps and would be glad to discuss the details of our exchange.

Not really a life swap, but read on and find out.

I've always been interested in riding route one on the west coast. But the problem has always been the money. The cost has been too high. Now I live in Norfolk in the UK. Have two bike's that can be used. So I'm looking for someone who would look at swapping your life style for mine. You can use my place and bike's. As for insurance. The best idea I can think of is. I'll put your name on my insurance as an extra rider and pay the cost. You do the same at your end. That way all I have to find is the air fare food and petrol.

It's just a germ of an idea. Who knows where it may go.

I'm not on the west coast but there is a lot to see just getting there. It's been done twice already on one of my bikes. Two swapmates have picked up my bike and rode it to the west coast and back to West Virginia. They enjoyed it immensely I might add !!

Couchsurfing

John, if you do this at some point with only a motorcycle and no house (and a low budget), make sure to check out Couchsurfing.org to find free accommodation (you've probably heard of it). I bought a bike in Europe last year and toured around 8 countries, staying mostly with Couchsurfers along the way. Had a blast. I've been using that sites for years, all over the world.
