Italian Riviera DL1000 ... Looking for WEST COAST AMERICA

This is just a feeler ... I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world .. ALASSIO on the Italian Riviera ... Nice and Monaco in France are ONE HOUR away in ONE Direction and Genova is an hour away in the other. Milan is 2 and a half hours. Turin is 1 and a half hours. Rome would be 6 hours south of where I live.

I own a much loved 2003 Suzuki DL1000 V-strom with Givi box and Panniers. GPS. PERFECT condition ...

My wife and I would love to visit San Fransisco and the West Coast and have been tempted to HIRE a touring bike .. The Bike Swap seems a good idea ...

Other places we would love to visit is NEW SOUTH WALES in Australia ..

We would consider a swap with another TOURING type Bike family .. We would arrange insurance cover HERE for any rider and would ask the same in return ...

Just interested in any responses .... THIS would not be before SUMMER 2007 so still 12 months away ....

I suggest also posting this at advrider.com under Upcoming Events (for lack of a proper category).

It's a popular USA based and populated site.

consider a swap

Hi,
We have aSuzuki GSX1100F Katana with full bags sets including a GIVI V46 top case.

We would definitely consider a bike swap with your DL1000 on the Italian Riveria.

We wouldn't be able to take advantage of our part of the swap until 2008 however as we are moving from Calgary Alberta Canada to Vancouver Island BC, Canada.

Only a 2-3 day ride from San Fransciso on some gorgeous roads.

Let us know we can send pics on our bike.

It is immaculately maintained.

This is a great idea!

Bike Share

You can also have a look at this website. I have been a member for about 5 years now. I have met a great bunch of people through it.

Sounds like a great fit. I'm located in Sacramento, Ca. Aprox 100 kil from San Francisco. An easy 1.15 hour ride. I have a fully loaded BMW 1100GS with bags, heated grips, corbin seat, etc. (the bike may be upgraded by the summer to a new 1200GS)
We are looking to travel to a little over a week this summer.
I’m a licensed motorcycle safety instructor here and teach riding for the California Highway Patrol (your bike would be in good hands).
Sounds like a interesting ideal. Drop me a line if you are still interested.
Thanks,
Kevin

Bike Swap

Have you considered the South Island of New Zealand ?
I have a couple of 650 Vstroms fully kitted for touring with givi panniers, hand-warmers etc and would be open to the idea of a swap.
Have a look at New Zealand options and let me know your thoughts.
A lap of the South Island would be about 2500 - 3500 km and would require 2 weeks to do it justice - I could help with planning if required.
Cheers
H
