info on renting through bikesbooking.com?

Hi, I've been getting an unsolicited email about renting dual purpose bikes from my home in Nova Scotia through this website...anybody know anything about them? I have a few bikes in my stable from a nifty 250 Super Herpa to a seasoned KLR to a newish BMW 700 GS that I would consider renting out if feasible and this company is reputable. Just sniffing things out for now.

Thanks,
Larry

If I understood Mr Zuckerberg, during his recent congressional inquisition, he said that he is selling data.
I am not sure that he would sell actual email addresses but there is a market for selling such data.

Because nothing is really free, "if you aren't paying a fee then you are the product" - that is how the professionals view the world.

Insecure internet connections are problematic

I'm very near certain that I first "lost" my email address to an interception by not using a VPN while in a non-secure connection.

I got a bit of junk mail for a while after making use of what seemed to be a dodgy connection but after changing my log on password that stopped.

I am a convert to using a VPN when travelling:-

How are you sure about this??

It is the case that this website is not "secure" in that it does not use a HTTPS address.

That is why in logging in here, it is possible for someone to intercept the data that you use to log in - given if anyone were interested enough to do so, and had the motivation and tech knowledge to do so (my posting above).

They take pounds, dollars, Euros - oh, and rubles...

Not a confidence builder.

bikesbooking.com

Thanks for the responses.

Yes they do say they are are an Irish/Russian company... I suspect the Russian partner needs the Irish partner for credibility more than the Irish partner needs the Russian partner for $$$, but who knows... Sounds like an idea that could work with the right people involved (AirBnB, Uber, etc).

I didn't mean to imply someone got my email address from this site, I was thinking of the bike rental angle before I posted here...but somewhere. I've rented bikes a few times (South Africa, Ethiopia, Vietnam) so my information could have been sold/hacked from there, who knows).

I asked Bikesbooking.com if there was anyone in eastern Canada who could vouch for them...they told me I would be the first in Canada, but Eagle Riders in the US works with them, so they say.
Too much uncertainty for me.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
