Iran, Toudeshk Accommodation

If you ride from Esfahan to Yazd, pay a visit to Mohammad. His home village is 70km east of Esfahan. He is hosting 2 wheel travelers since long time and has some accommodation to offer - very very friendly guy the right place to chill out.

Different experience

We stayed three weeks ago and had a very different experience. Not worth going into detail but would not recommend.
If you want to see Toudeshk, a stop for tea would be better.

Toudeshk

I was at the lovely Tak-taku homestay a few days before, and had a great time with Mohammad and his nice family who REALLY take care of their guests ... Definitively a good place to stay in this part of the world !

Toudeshk is a small desert town between Yazd and Esfahan, directly on the main road and thus really easy to find. When there, just ask for Mohammad Jalali ... everybody seem to know him there ! In case you need it, his new email is crazyboyindesert@gmail.com, and phone 09133654420. The previous ones (see the first post) seem to still be working.

Enjoy the ride !

He is a host as you don't see them much. A lovely place to stay while travelling in Iran. It's also a good starting point to go and ride in the sand dunes, the saltlake ar just offroad open in the wide!!! He'll know where you have to go.

My Mate and I have also just stayed in the Tak Taku with Mohammad and Fatime for two days, we wish it could have been longer, but we are in a hurry to get upt the KKH. We definitely want wo ride our bikes in Iran again, and then we will stay in Tudeshk for a little longer and really enjoy everything properly!
Food was also awesome by the way, and Mohammad can really help you with manymany things! No matter what, just ask, he'll organise!

We stayed at Mohammad's homestay last night and it was a great experience! Nice environment, great food, enjoyed our stay. Would have liked to stay longer but our time is running out in Iran. Highly recommend staying here if you are coming this direction.

I personally have not been to Todeshk, but have heard several bad stories from travellers (unwanted sexual advances), I can not confirm or deny these, but I have heard enough of them to somewhat believe it. That said, I have also heard quite a few good reviews about the place.

However, I can highly highly recommend the three desert guesthouses Kavir (Khoor), Rohab (Mesr), Aziz (Garmeh). The owner, Rohab is a young progressive and liberal dude, heavily involved in tourism in the country. A very good place to stop between Esfahan, Yazd and Mashad. I would say, spending time in these guesthouses was one of the real highlights in Iran. There are quite a few extremely positive reviews in the LP forums. Unfortunately, the author of the current guidebook failed to visit the guesthouse (despite making an appointment), because of the unethical behaviour of the other guesthouse in Garmeh (who convinced her not to go),

I'm surprised and shocked to see these comments.

For 9 years I have been operating this guest house and have never had
any such comments made about people's experience here. If any guests
had ever had such problems they have never raised them with me, or
written a negative comment on any website, which they are free to do.

I sent a private message to the above user and he asked if I can think
of anything that Western guests may think of as a sexual advance when
it is possibly a part of our culture. I cannot really think of
anything but of course this is possible because Iranians, especially
in smaller places, are avery affectionate (in a non-sexual sense) with
each other. Sometimes this is surprising for Westerners.

Also, it is important to remember the guy's comments are hearsay (he
never stayed here) - and should always be treated with caution. Having
said that I very much respect him for replying to my concerns via
email and answering my questions.

As always bikers, enjoy your riding in Iran!

Hello;

My wife and I stayed at Mohammad's guesthouse on our way from Yazd to Esfahan and had a great time. The family are great, kind and welcoming. The food is also delicious.

Mohammed can also give you directions to the sand dunes if you want to ride around and then try getting stuck in the sand like me (must point out that I stopped for a photo.. never ever stop in sand :) ) Luckily Mohammed knew some local dude who could come an help us.

Its a nice stop between Yazd and Esfahan and not out of the way at all. I would recommend a homestay here if you have the time.

All the best

New Guest House

Just stayed (July 2016) at the Tak-Taku homestay the 2nd time, crazy Mohammad has a very nice new house (around 100m away from the old one) with a huge space for motorcycles. So if you have time, visit him, he really loves motorcycles!!
