Vermont, Wilmington - Hotel

This is an e-mail that I received from the Vintage Motel in Wilmington, Vermont some time ago.

Dear Fellow motorcycle enthusiast,

Spring is around the corner and it is time to start thinking about getting your bikes ready for another season! Hi, My name is Ken McGann. My wife and I, (along with our three children), Are the proud new owners of the Vintage Motel located in Wilmington Vermont. We are located in the heart of the Green Mountains in beautiful southern Vermont. We have actually owned the motel for close to twenty months now. Through this time we have been working very hard to upgrade and improve the motel which has already had a stellar reputation for the last 35 years. As I am sure you are well aware, New England is one of the most beautiful places in the United States and what better way to take in this breathtaking scenery than on a motorcycle. Many individual and group cyclist travel here to enjoy the twisty, winding country roads, magnificent scenery, and the spectacular views given by the many breathtaking vistas found throughout the state.

This brings me to the point of my letter. My family would like to cater to the motorcycle market. We presently have many cyclists who visit us frequently when they are out on a tour. We would like to expand on this and extend this welcome to the many clubs and groups, (as well as individuals), who visit our area throughout the year. Our motel has 18 rooms, all with private baths, color cable TV and in-room phones. Once the warm weather arrives, our outdoor heated pool will be open for business. Our rooms have either two double beds or a single queen. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. On weekends and holidays the rate includes our continental breakfast in the morning. If a group would be reserving a block of rooms midweek, we would certainly offer the breakfast then as well.

Once the days ride is complete, you and your friends can relax outback in our picnic area enjoying the tranquillity of our five gorgeous acres. There is a gas grill available if you wish to barbecue you own meal. If a sit down meal is preferred, we are located one mile from the center of Wilmington where you will find several restaurants to satisfy everyone’s tastes. The town also has many wonderful, quaint shops to browse through while you stretch your legs after a long day of riding.

The majority of our rooms have outside entrances which means your bikes will be right outside your door. I have a fairly intensive tool collection incase you encounter any mechanical problems during your ride. We also have an enclosed area to work on your machines in case the weather turns bad or nightfall sets in while you make any necessary repairs or adjustments.

No matter what your riding schedule is, either an all day ride through the beautiful Green Mountains or a trip which includes stops at the different historic areas or shopping while you ride, We would be more than happy to help plan your trip and give you ideas on the many places to go and things to see. Please take a moment to browse through our website, the address is www.VINTAGEMOTEL.com . After which, if you would like further information about us or the area please feel free to email us at vintage@sover.net or you can call us toll free at 1-800-899-9660. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you!

Think spring,

Ken McGann

- If motorcyclists claim to be individuals, why then do so many of them ride in packs?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
