Saudi Arabia

Just a word of caution with regards to KSA.

My planned trip - to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital for children & MSF was cut short in Jordan.

I made it from John O'Groats to Amman, Jordan in 12 days, & was advised by the KSA Embassy in Dubai, where I am resident, & after two weeks of having my passport, I should apply for a transit visa at the KSA Consulate in Jordan. (The Embassy in DXB had offered me a transit visa from DXB to JDN, but I explained it was JDN to DXB I required).

The KSA consul himself declined my request, stating motorcycles were not permitted to move between cities, & acts of terrorism had been carried out on motorcycles - both very poor excuses. Even producing a letter from my sponsor (Dubai Government) requesting assistance in issuing said visa, was dismissed.

The result is now that I have to fly my bike to DXB.

My employer has a partner office in Jordan & the GM of that company, together with myself, visited the Consulate for the purpose of securing the transit visa, so I know the reason for my trip was explained correctly in arabic.

Despite this, I did manage to raise some money for both causes, which is the main thing, but I do feel cheated by the decision taken by the consulate.

Real poor show KSA - Rant over.

Adrian

You are not the first and it’s probably true that they don’t permit motorbikes.
I have tried twice to get the visa on a motorbike with no luck even with good helpers. When I traveled with a car it was easy.

Yes, I know some people have made it, but it’s not easy.
