Friendly B&B Central France

Hi Peeps,

I'm delivering a bike for a freind week after next and I'm looking for a biker freindly B&B with secure parking somewhere about half way between Paris and Nice. :mchappy:

Any suggestions welcomed.:sleep1:

Thanks Stu

A suggestion:-

It may not be exactly 1/2 way but look up "OldBMW" - do a search for his posts and you will see his B&B business in France.

Then there are the communities in the links on the right of this page!

B&B at the end of September? Well you might find one but.... It's not uncommon for B&B owners to all pack up shop and close down end of September for a couple of weeks' holiday (where do they stay I wonder?). That's not to say that you won't find one, just be aware that some will be closed.

You might want to consider an Ibis style hotel though, in the bigger towns they often have secure/underground parking.

Thanks for that,

I would love to go over to OLDBMW's place, it looks great, but I don't really have time on this run, as it's a bike delivery job, not purely for fun.:wink3:

I usually stay at the ETAP in Dijon, but I was hoping for something more convivial (did I get that right??).

Cheers Stu

I would love for you to visit also, but really a bit out of your way.
I just got back from a diesel bike rally in Germany and stayed at an excellent BnB in Estissac just a few miles west of Troyes on th RNN60 (old road, not Peage). It is on the left as you leave the town towards Troyes, drive off the main street through an archway. Has all facilties except cover for bikes.

What we are ideally placed for is traffic from the channel ports heading south, especially Spain Pyrennees and portugal whilst avoiding peages.

Really great rides can be had along the Loire river from Tours to Samur.. Also from Montagne sur peche to Saumur., bot of which lead to the D road which passes our place on the way south.

Not sure about B&Bs but we found a very good budget hotel in Lyon - part of the Villages B&B Hotel chain ( B&B Hotels).

Called the "Hotel B&B LYON Meyzieu Eurexpo", it was basic but great value and breakfast available - Cheap at EUR 36 for a double room for us.
It is just out of town beside a main road (N346) with a fenced parking area. Was secure enough for us. Across the road from a E.Leclerc supermarket, fuel-stop and eatery.

GPS cordinates at: N45 46.144 E4 59.323
Hope this helps.
Cheers
John

Thanks Guys, Now sorted with a place in Beaune, if it's any good I'll let you know.:thumbup1:

OLDBMW, I'll catch you next year. I'm planning a run down your side of the country and I won't be in such a rush.:eek3:

Cheers Stu

Oh yeah, it was okay, due to communications break down and the most torential downpour I have ever seen (3 hours of it) I ended up in an ETAP.

Not too bad, secure parking, warm & clean and only €35 inc breakfast.:thumbup1:
