Just to add that this place is still going strong. Simple, friendly, very well setup for bikers and great location. There's even 10km of hairpin filled mountain roads up the side of the valley starting essentially from their back door.

I agree. I had a great visit to Malta (that's Austrian Malta) last year and stayed here. Friendly people and good value.
Fantastic motorcycle routes in the area - and very little traffic on most roads. For a "rest day" there are walking trails in the national park forests or borrow a bicycle to explore the valley.
