Marocco, High Atlas - Hotel

Great places to stay high up in the Atlas. These places can be reach by dirt roads.

Douar Mzik gite d' etappe de Hamid Tanssine, just next to Imlil.
GPS:
N 31°08,207'
W 007°55,636'

Get to the village of Mzik and ask for: Hamid Tanssine. Say hello from Pieter Maes out Belgium.
You should get basic lodging for 30Dr and a great Tanjine will cost you about the same.
The gite is located right next to the village moske. You will experience some great village live up here. And you are well away from the busy place of Imlil.
Hamid will make sure youre bikes are secured or watched after.
Hamid is a guide on Jbel Toubkal. He will be happy to arange anything for you if you want to go hiking a couple of days in the mountains. He can organise stuff all in (food, lodging, guiding, mules,...) from 200 to 250Dr per person (depending on how much you are).
You can get in touch with Hamid ahead:
Douar M'zik
BP.86 Poste Asni 42150
Marocco

Tel: +212 44485608
Fax: +212 44485660

Another village, in the valley next to the Imlil valley is Ouaneskra. Don't think this is the same as Imlil or Mzik. I had the impession being in a different world here. There is no road in the valley, but there is a good trail and with a heavy enduro you will be able to reach the village.
Ask for the Gite Soleil or Lancen Aourik.
GPS:
N 31°09,305'
W 007°51,413'
You will get a place to sleep for 30Dr, a good tanjine is 30Dr and breakfast about 15Dr.
Besides this Lancen is very open about his religion. He will perform his daily prayers on his terrace while you are sitting there. It doesn't bother him. He'll be happy to answer any questions about the Islam. Great Cross Cultural experience!!!
In the gite I saw one picture hanging of two guys who got there on enduro's. No idea who they were.

If you have any more questions feel free to contact me directly via my email.
