Visit New Zealand

Hi there

If anyone has planned a visit to New Zealand, or is contemplating one, drop me line and I would more than happy to help.

I am (was) an 4wd Adventure tour operator for many years conducting tours throughout NZ.
I have since rediscovered motorbikes, and we (my wife and I) are thinking of doing the European trip on bikes next year??

I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to trails etc, so please feel free to contact me anytime.

There are quite a few kiwis on here, and I could almost guarantee that they would be too willing to assist wherever they can.

Cheers Scott

Scott
Are you bringing bikes over, buying or looking for a bike swap? I might be interested in the latter, UK for NZ in 2007.

Hi Scott

I'm new to Horizons unlimited and have been looking at the Hubb to get some info for NZ as i'm coming over from London on the 18 Sept and riding around the south island till the 10 Oct starting and finishing in Cristchurch.

You in the South or the North?
If in the south you free to meet for a beer or ten? I have no plans just getting on a bike and riding.

Be great to meet up with other members for a beer and chat and if you ever in London there always a warm beer ( I been told we only drink warm beer)waiting.

Hope to see ya in a bar
Rob

List

Hi Scott,

Is it possible to make a list of places 'must see' in NZ.
This list may include natural reserves, waterfalls and Alpin views too.
Can keep it in hand for any future possibility.

Thanks and regards

Hi Rob

I am in the North Island, but there are a few Hubb Members that are in the South Island that would be only too happy to have a beer with you and supply some good riding areas etc.

Cheers Scott

Hi Samy

The best site I can think of it actually for Geocaching, i use it a lot to find out od the way places with some sort of interest :)

NZ caches can be found on this page
And to see them on a map of NZ go to this page

Also visit the Offical NZ tourism site where they even have a travel planner and a list of must see activities

I hope that helps and look us up when you are here

Cheers Scott

Hi Scott,
We are comming over in November for around 4 months, it has been over 14 years since we were last in NZ. The loose plan at the moment is to buy a small camper and travel around. The last visit was part of our RTW trip and we were two up on a Guzzi, managed to see a lot in the 3 month we stayed.
If you have any ideas on buying a camper or maybe 4x4 plus tent, please let me have them, I would like to get somthing for around the 9000 NZD or less. I have been checking NZ Trade Me for prices and ideas.

We are off on the bikes to Turkey for a couple of months so will checking out the HUBB from time to time.

You're on the right track

TradeMe will give you the best idea of what's available and what prices. If you have been here before you will probably know that in the summer, unless you are going to really hard-core off-road areas, then a 4x4 is not really needed. Ground clearence is more important, and something like a Toyota HiAce van will do most of what you want. And with a carry frame on the back or front, you can fit a small trailbike! You should be able to get a good van (not purpose built camper) for under $4000 and the rest can go to a bike ;-)_ Now is the time to buy, of course, as it's the low season. I live near Christchurch in the South island, do you want me to keep an eye out for you?

Regards

Nigel in NZ
