To the Darwin community

Hi guys,
after travelling Australia we leave the country via Darwin to East Timor October 15th. Our deadline for the bikes is October 9th and we are thinking of arriving mid next week to get all our stuff sorted out. I have t o contact the local motorcycle dealers to get a crate and try to get it somehow to the harbour.
Tim Hobins and Adma Lewis told us about the community in Darwin and that there could be some help.
Youeven might know a place where I could be able to service a bike if the campsite is not happy with me doing an oil change
Thanks and cheers
Anja und Holger

It is just another path .. possibly a better one? And even 'experienced' people over look things sometimes .. so no worries there.

----------

The oil change thing .. I've resorted to riding some distance .. find a dirt road .. dig a hole let the old oil in that hole .. move bike away .. cover hole with sand ..
and refill with the new oil.. Not the best way for the environment .. but the oil actually helps stabilise the dirt road ..

However if you buy the new oil at a garage then negotiate with them to dispose of the old oil ... more expensive than a supermarket but you get to get rid of the old oil .. and they will usually supply a container for the old oil..

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
