I leave tomorrow (Sunday 13 April) for a 14 day solo trip around the South Island. This is my first solo trip and besides being a holiday will give me a chance to test the bike, myself and all my gear.

I bought a new Suzuki DR650 at the end of last year and have spent the last 4 months getting the bike ready.

My thanks to Grant and Susan for hosting this site and to all those who have contributed. Your advice and comments have been invaluable and I have certainly learnt much. Thank you Mollydog (Patrick) and my fellow Kiwi Nigel for all your help. This really is a fantastic site.

I have set up a blog and hope to update it daily with lots of pictures. If you want to see how beautiful the South Island is check the blog out.

This is the first of many trips.
