Speedometer

I know this sounds kinda wrong, but:

Do I need a speedometer to enter Australia? I don't mean working, I mean having one on the bike.

Cheers

I have found that as a general rule if it is legal and licensed in your home country it can go to other countries. That said I don't know of a country that does not have regs requiring a speedo. I rode one in USA for years without speedo but knew all along that they could write me up for it.

If your bike is registered in your own country I am almost certain you will not have any problems. If you want to make certain, buy a $10 digital watch and glue it to your bike. Tell them it is a speedo. They will not know the diference.

And you can buy, if you look hard enough, bicycle speedos that run up to 199km/h. They work well on a motorcycle. Even the standard ones that run to 99km/h would be enough to keep the JobsWorths happy, and they are cheap.

I think so

If the bike had one when it was manufactured then I would say yes. But it may depend on if you have to do a temp reg or something similar.

I would chuck a bicycle one on as others have said. It would take you 10 mins.

I was planning on putting on a cheap Honda copy that you can pick up all over Indonesia for 2 $, just to be sure.

I simply wondered.

But thanks a lot.
