South Island bike Purchase and storage questions

Hi Kiwi's

My wife and I are going to do our third trip to N.Z. next winter (North Hemisphere winter). We are interested in purchasing a bike this trip, preferably a v-strom if the service network is reliable, and pricing is reasonable. Alternatively we would be interested in a Transalp, but I don't recall seeing many over there. We would probably not sell the bike, but keep it for use on future trips.

Do any of ya'll know of any good long term storage options for a bike, preferably in the Christchurch or Nelson areas? Any knowledge you can pass along related to brand support, or bike recommendations is also welcome.

Thanks

Ben

These are the guys to see if you buy in Christchurch. In the five years since they started business, they have become the biggest selling Suzuki dealership in NZ. I was in there yesterday and they had 6 V-Stroms in stock, including a couple of demo bikes. Storage shouldn't be a problem, I may even be able to help you out there as I near Christchurch. I think the V-Strom would be a perfect bike for touring NZ on. And that also includes the Wee-Strom 650 as well. The roads and policing means that the 650 has all the horsepower and then some that you need.

regards

Nigel in NZ

South Island options

Your plans for the South Island sound great - can I suggest another option to consider ?
I have a small motorcycle rental business in Dunedin and have 650 Vstroms and Transalp in the fleet (and Kawasaki KLE 500).
Dunedin is a great place to start a tour from and I would be happy to negotiate a great long term deal if you care to make contact.
Check out www.backroadsbikes.co.nz for more info and email me from the link there if you're interested.
Cheers
