Searching for bike-mates for Central Australia

Hi! I am travelling with my italian Honda Transalp, going south from Brisbane to Sidney, Melbourne, Tasmania, Adelaide. I think I will be in Adelaide at the beginning or in the middle of February. From there, going to the Center of Australia (Uluru) and then to Perth, it would be great to travel together with other bikers, for anything could happen in the desert central australia, and to share this great experience!
Anybody on the same way?

On your journey between Sydney and Melbourne, if you need a bed half-way you would be welcome to stay with us. We are 40 km inland from Bega on a rural property.

Adelaide to Alice Springs

I am leaving tomorrow morning, wandering around the Adelaide Hills, then Barossa, then to Flinders Ranges via Kapunda and Burra backroads, then up Oodnatta track, visit Painted Desert, Cadney Park on Stuart Highway, Henbury Meteorite Craters, Rainbow Valley to Alice. I live in Alice, and need to be back for work on 27th January.

If you need somewhere in Adelaide to stay, pm me, as can organise with my daughter.

I often do trips out around Alice over summer - just need to be very aware of temperature and keep fluid intake up. We generally only ride until 1200, then swim/rest until 1700, making our way on

Thank You very much, keep in touch!

Summer Temps

Yes, I do think it is too hot for general riding, as you cannot keep up fluid intakes. I managed to go from Finders Ranges to Marree and then the Borefield Track to Roxby Downs then Woomera. I did have a camel back and was consuming in excess of 6l per day and still not enough - no urine output at all. Temps were in low 40's (but that is in shade in Stephenson screen - not out in the sun). In 2500km, did not see one other touring bike - just some locals returning home from work in Leigh Creek. The Adelaide Hills and the Flinders would be OK, but I would avoid Central Australia as being too hot in summer for touring.
