Ro-ro ferries belong to the civilized world, you are talking about New Zealand, at the other end of the earth, mate! For a start, it's 2150km in a straight line between Sydney and Auckland. You'll have to find a freight company, or a specialist company as mentioned in the above post.

As standard freight or on specialist vehicle carriers. You want to get a motorbike to NZ, you'll need to fly it or sea freight it in a crate. It will go as standard freight (dimensions and weight) on either. Remember, as well as being about 2200km form the nearest other country we only have 4 million people. Like I said, this is the other end of the world and it is the last proper land mass to be settled by humans. There's a price to pay to live in motorcycle paradise, and if it's not having a RO-RO service to the nearest country, I for one am happy to pay....

There are not RoRo ferries as per the European - Baltic, Channel, Mediterranean - there is just not sufficient movement of vehicles between the two countries - or the legal framework to make it happen. Taking a vehicle from NZ to Aus would be like going back to 1960s Europe when you needed Carnets and special insurance for each country you visited.

Its impossible to get a RoRo ferry to pay for itself between Melbourne and Tasmania without massive government subsidies to encourage trade and tourism.

ok, thanks guys. I`ve seen already "fin del mundo" in Ushuaia, Cape Agulhas in South Africa. And I really want to reach NZ.

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone stumbles onto this looking for more info I used Willship to get my bike over to NZ from Perth, this article explains the best way to ship a bike overseas - What is the best way to ship a motorcycle overseas? - Willship International
